100% Natural Aromatic West African Wild Frankincense Tears. Also Known As: Olibanum, Gum Olibanum or Boswelia Resin. In order to get the resin, the tree must be wounded, or tapped, to produce the sap, which dries and hardens on the surface of the tree. These tears are then collected and used in various applications in herbal medicine and aromatherapy. Depending on the region where the boswelia trees grow, the ratio of constituents within the resin can change. The main constituents in most frankincense gum resins include Monoterpenes (primary constituent responsible for the aroma of frankincense), Sesquiterpenes, Diterpenes, Triterpenes (e.g. boswelic acids, anti-inflammatory), Polysaccharides (Immune support, water soluble) and Essential oils. My fascination with the medicinal qualities of both frankincense and myrrh started long ago when I was called to use both in my personal healing protocols. During my early studies to become a clinical herbalist, I took the opportunity to prepare a thesis on both of these magical resins for my master herbalist diploma.
